NULLAKI DREAMING
Self-contained holiday house
Denmark - Western Australia

A luxurious, secluded holiday sanctuary

All the superlatives attributed to Denmark are encapsulated in this luxuriously appointed, secluded sanctuary fringed by Karri forest reserves on the slopes of Mt Hallowell.

The 11 acre property is a hidden treasure, a jewel in the crown of what has been touted as God’s country. This is a location where you can actually see where the forest meets the sea, while still within minutes from the town.

The house is positioned between Ocean Beach and Lights Beach, with each being 3 - 4 kms away. The property is 8 kms from town and 10 kms to Williams Bay-Greens Pool via Lights Road.

Most rooms in the main house have breathtaking, panoramic outlooks to Ocean Beach and Wilson Inlet, separated by the property’s namesake - the Nullaki Peninsula.

Dream about waking to a sunrise that bathes the expansive waterways and the peninsula in a warm hue. Surfers and fishermen can check the weather conditions from their beds. Later in the day settle in with a glass of wine on the balconies to witness sunsets that highlight the splendour of the awesome cliff faces. There aren’t many places in the world where you can see the effects of a sunrise and sunset over water.

From the balconies, guests literally have a bird’s eye view but what is unique is that there is not a rooftop to be seen. What you can see includes whales, surfers, cows, birds and fishing boats.

The grounds teem with an enormous variety of birdlife, encouraged to the house by seed feeders (seed provided). Wildflowers abound in spring and the grounds have recently been stripped of introduced plants and replaced with native flora. Kangaroos, possums and numbats are known to visit the property.

The organic, two-storey, solar passive dwelling is fed by rainwater tanks and heated by wood fires.

The main house built of the rammed earth and cedar, has living areas and bathrooms on both levels. The biggest of the bathrooms on the upper level has a raised bath beside a big window that affords wonderful forest outlooks. The living area upstairs is expansive and has an eight-seater lounge suite, perfect for TV viewing or to soak up the sounds from the CD unit. The downstairs living area is focused around a slow combustion fire.

Upstairs there is a queen-size bed in one room, a queen-size bed and a single bed in another and a bunk bed in the other room. Downstairs there is a double bedroom.

A well-equipped kitchen separates the lounge room from the eight-seater dining area, that opens to a paved verandah for outdoor entertaining.

Guests will be spoiled for choice, whether relaxing is on the menu or getting into the great outdoors. If fishing, swimming or surfing is not your calling, there are plenty of great walks to be had, including parts of the Bibbulmun Track that winds its way across Mt Hallowell.

Did I catch you dreaming?
