Wineries in Denmark WA imageThe Denmark wine region - taste it, love it!

Denmark Tourist Bureau informationThe Denmark wine region offers delightful premium wines, from vineyards set amidst the area's natural beauty.

The fine, high quality local wines have distinct, recognisable, regional characteristics, with the gentle summer temperatures and higher winter rainfall being particularly suited to Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Merlot.

The first vines were planted in 1976, at Tinglewood Wines, using cuttings from Mount Barker. The first vintage occurred in 1980 - though it was to be another ten years before a second vineyard commenced, at Karriview Wines, quickly followed by a host of new vineyards since.

Today there are around 20 cellar door operations, with a variety of associated attractions including gardens, picnic areas, barbecue facilities and restaurants.

Enhance your visit to Denmark with a leisurely tasting of the outstanding wines available from our many welcoming cellar doors (winery tours are available, so there is no need for a 'skipper') and enjoy music concerts and free musical entertainment through summer and autumn.

The wineries listed support the Denmark Tourist Bureau in providing visitor care. We hope you will support them in return.

Rockcliffe wines

ROCKCLIFFE WINERY 18 Hamilton Rd, Denmark. District Map East S2
Rockcliffe has a unique varietal style using innovative winemaking techniques.  These wines are a testament to our cool climate region and to the people involved who act as caretakers ensuring only the highest quality fruit makes it into the final bottle.
Rockcliffe is an 18 acre extension Matilda's Meadow which was established in the 1980's with the planting of dry grown vines.  In 2001 under the enthusiastic direction of owner Steve Hall, Rockcliffe underwent a refurbishment of the Cellar Door, Art Gallery & Restaurant. In 2007 the building of a brand new winery producing 50,000 cases of wine per year has signaled a new stage in the evolution of the brand and business.

Rockcliffe operates a modern contract winery business for all clients including Rockcliffe. Their promise is 'To retain the integrity of the growers grape variety. No mixed batches. The grower's grape, wine and reputation are maintained and enhanced - not compromised.'
